A chimera slowly regains memories of its past life as a human in a nonmagical world. While he is in part James Borland, temp office worker who was on the verge of being converted to permanent, he is also a savage beast who gains strength by consuming flesh of various creatures.
The more he remembers, the larger the effect his old persona has on his actions, which is often at odds with his instincts as a beast that seeks only to consume prey to become stronger.
Updates: Chimera will updatetwo to three times each week.
The greatest of the sea-drakes wakes, curled on his silver throne; but there is no silver. His hoard is stolen. He rises, screaming, and chases the thief to the ends of the world—only to be shot from the sky.
But dragons do not die easy, and never one with such festering hatred. A dungeon core rises from his corpse.
If he intends to survive so near the cove of pirates that slew his past self, he'll need to master his powers—and quickly. For these pirates are dragonslayers; they won't be felled by mere mushrooms or spiders.
Beneath the lawless Calarata, the young dungeon core will have to fight to survive; and one day, he will return death to the man who killed him.
The Aspects are long dead. The venerated creators of reality are no more.
Yet the final scheme of their slayer, of the deceased Betrayer, seeks to grind all they have ever made to dust. And the truth is, it is working. Slowly but surely, the end of all things has been growing closer and closer throughout the eons. Inevitably, unstoppably.
The last Hope is a desperate gamble: For one of the first children of the creators to cast their very soul into reincarnation and perhaps return as something strong enough to stop the end. If there ever was any chance to begin with.
I am not stubbing this story until it's at least complete (if ever).
Expect: High fantasy. Weak to strong quick. Powerful MC reincarnates, gradually starts regaining memories. MC that is an actual character not a plot device. My original unique magic system discovered along with the MC. My original setting with mythos that have both been living rent free in my head for actual years. Story that matters (or does it?) No, I can't rewrite the prologue even though I lose a good half of prospective readers on it.
Good writing and decent grammar. Reviewers seem to like it, you might too.
Upload schedule: Updates every Saturday. 3000+ words per chapter.
This is a story of how a powerless man thrown about in a world he had no say in, unable to do anything about his circumstances and a victim of many misfortunes, turned into a newborn dragon with the potential to finally be truly free and reshape the very reality he now resided in. Escaped from the grasp of higher powers and not keen to be another cog in the machine once more, he uses all his cumulative knowledge and his new talents to survive and carve his own path to follow.
He did however not escape from misfortune, higher beings keen on interfering with his existence, his own instincts and impulses as a dragon contradicting his human mind, even old problems and afflictions he thought he had left behind come to haunt him. This is a story of exploring identity, the self, the world and everything in between.
Things to expect: - A very complex magic system - An original take on classic fantasy elements and beings - A complex exploration of identity, mentality, nature versus nurture and so much more. - A powerful main character that earns his place and forms his unique style - Lots of contemplation and a slightly unhinged and scientific approach to studying magic.
[I died and was accidentally reborn as an angelic monstrosity, so now I’m building a holy dungeon-tower that is tall enough to reach the gods; so that I can complain about it! But the humans think that I am trying to destroy the world.]
The senselessness of so much of the world’s death and suffering is made apparent to the dying paladin, Isaiah, in his final moments before he perishes and is, shortly thereafter, reborn into a comparatively quiet and peaceful existence as a simple blackbird.
However, the powerful magic of the god whom Isaiah himself had served in his prior human life upends this latest existence, as a spell goes awry, turning the entity instead into a strange, angelic monstrosity that is neither man nor animal.
Isaiah, desperate to return to its simple life as a blackbird, sets out to build the tallest tower ever seen by the eyes of the world in order to reach the reclusive gods who reside in the heavens above and make them undo the transformation in a bid to allow itself an escape from the complex suffering of intelligent, self-aware mortality.
To save a universe, a reincarnator must die. This keeps happening and has never made any sense.
Lamutri is a Chapel assassin of the multiversal House of Fate, and wants to know why. For dispatching reincarnators, he is promised ascent. But his reality-altering Defects keep him strangled at the bottom.
When straightforward missions start going horribly, exponentially wrong, the Chapel holds Lamutri to blame. There’s a simple solution: murder the problem. But with the fate of universes in his hands, he realises someone has been keeping very significant secrets. For a very long time.
What to expect:
- Isekai tropes in a rational framework - Fast-paced serious plot focus - Questions raised and answered - Slow-paced, non-standard progression (think integral to the plot, with various consequences) - The multiverse!
Updates:
Story will update daily for the first couple of weeks, and will slow to three times per week afterwards. Book One is complete and guaranteed to finish.
[I was reincarnated in a fantasy world as the manifestation of absolute void — the Black Knight, and my goal is to return the destitute, sickly, youngest-born princess, who is kind of a loser, to her throne because it beats doing nothing]
War rages across the continent as a foreign power sets foot on the soil of the nation beneath the glow of strange starlight. Emptiness fills the eyes of people everywhere as their faces become as hard as the loveless hearts hidden beneath them. Those who are not involved in the war-effort can only do their best to survive on the fringes for the time being.
One of these people is the exiled, youngest princess of the nation, the ill Acacia Odofredus Krone, who lives forgotten in destitute squalor as an abject failure, being not even capable enough to become a low-ranking adventurer. An equally lost soul, reborn from another world, suddenly finds himself reincarnated at her side as the powerful manifestation of a creature of old prophecy; der Schwarze Ritter — the Black Knight.
Together, faced with the pressures of the horrific conflict, dire poverty, Acacia’s fatal sickness, and the looming threat of her noble bloodline that hasn't been forgotten by the world hanging heavy over them, the two of them are forced onto a journey to find a way to live together, fighting their way out from the lowest shadows of forgottenhood in order to reach the pinnacle of either of their dreams — a life that feels like anything more than total emptiness.
[litRPG] [Isekai] [Reborn in Another World] [Power Struggle]
In the wake of the Battle of Katze Plains, the banner of Ainz Ooal Gown flies proudly over the city of E-Rantel. The Sorcerous Kingdom has entered the world’s stage to the clamour of death and devastation; the surrounding nations fearfully prepare even as they reel from its calamitous debut. Within the borders of the newly annexed realm, its Human subjects cower in their homes as the Undead openly walk the streets and stalk the lands. Yet, when a destitute noble finds herself under the auspices of an unlikely benefactor, events are set into motion that will resound over the world for ages to come.
A kingdom builder based on the events and setting of Kugane Maruyama’s Overlord. In a fantasy world where beings of matchless power are transmigrated from the arbitrary existence of a game, Valkyrie’s Shadow chronicles the lives of the natives whose reality has been turned upside down by their advent. It is the tale of a nation created by the whims of a supreme sovereign, and his unstoppable servants who each have their own, often twisted, interpretations of their Master’s Will.
There is no victory in strength; no miracles wrought from magic that will save them: only the inexorable advance of a new world order where those who secure a place of service within will find themselves turned against the world that they once knew.
[Slow buildup. Methodical storytelling with a focus on well-rounded kingdom building and character development.]
