Synopsis

A new mother that recently hit rock bottom not long before giving birth to a child she never planned to have is whisked to a new world of magic and monsters. Her prodigious intelligence earns her a free magical skill, and though she makes great use of it, little does she know that in this new land, magic is the highest taboo imaginable, and for a good reason. She learns quickly that she will have to be the bigger monster to protect the only thing in her life worth protecting, her child, and with her particular set of skills, there’s an unending tide of enemies waiting to have a piece of her.

An unforgiving madness-inducing magic system, secret identity shenanigans, biological magic and therefore body-horror, a barebones and unintrusive status screen system, a genius-intellect self-serving main character.

Needing a method to survive as the only fairy within the human capital, if not the only one at all in the world, Mirabelle lives in secret within the vibrant city full of magic and adventurers, adapting to the ways of the human-people, as the fairy ways do not suffice to survive within this new, industrious society that is the total opposite of her old one, until she finds her path forward as a shoemaker's apprentice!

Living in seclusion and in fear, unable to reveal herself because of her own anxieties, the fairy practices the art of shoemaking in secret, the old contract of her rebirth not forgotten by her or by the dark stars that granted it, as she spends her days making boots as she tries to figure out what life exactly is for a cruel fairy or a cruel human, both of whom exist under the curious glow of starlight that seems to wait ever so patiently for the old bargain to be fulfilled.

Will Mirabelle succumb to her dark desires to make the humans pay for what they did to her and her people, or will she find a new way forward, breaking free from the spiritual shackles of revenge?

The other is sent to the southern deserts and is saved by a band of slaves-turned-raiders who take him in as one of their own, where he eventually came into contact with a being that calls herself the History Eater.

The two sought power and the forces of the world would soon listen, but not without their own aspirations.

And perhaps if the two were to meet again, they would be so warped by their own hands and would not even recognize the other.

[Arc 1 - Disciple of the History Eater & Knighthood]

Under the guidance of Fieluri, the whimsical being from the Archive, Airen moves south to the Red Slate Republic to attend Stonewall Military Academy. There, he finds himself wrapped up in the History Eater's ploys, and at the same time, learns of the somber side of society in the slave-driven republic. Eventually, under Fieluri's instruction, he descends into the depths of dungeons where he eventually reunites with an old acquaintance.

Yuelei, who has grown used to living in the snowy mountains, moves north to the Holy Land of Ecclisa to attend the Royal Knight Academy. After Lin leaves, she slowly adapts to living with humans again, but not without ceaseless caution. The thinly-veiled peace is eventually broken, for the monsters that haunted the nights in the Whitefrost Mountains are returning once more. In response, the Holy Land of Ecclisa slowly prepare for war, but Yuelei is not just a mere bystander.

All paths eventually leads to conflict. When it arrives, one can choose to deter it away, or to revel in it.
