Synopsis

Rian Sellblade is a young man who gets taken in by the Matriarchal Hilan Empire as a “Taxed Man”, men who are given as tithes to be used by the knights of the empire. A fate his mother hoped that she had avoided for him. While fearful of his plight, he is offered protection by the leader of the company he is meant to serve, Captain Eiden. But, is her offer born from good will, or to get him to let his guard down?
