Synopsis

He’s got 99 problems, and an extra time loop ain’t one…
The world is devolving into chaos as a game-like system has reduced the population to a series of statistics and screens.

Confusion reigns as everyone struggles to survive in this new reality. Everyone but one man. Anthony Franklin has a secret. One that gives him an edge. He has lived through this exact series of events… 99 times in a row.

Anthony needs to take advantage of all he accomplished over his past runs—every play, shortcut, and strategy—to save as many lives as possible by the end. He must contend with vicious boss monsters, elude the oppressive surveillance eyes of the system administrators, and watch his back when dealing with the scheming players that want the game to go their way no matter the cost.

In a world where every individual has their own goals, dreams, and fears, shepherding them won’t be easy. Anthony must use all of his considerable experience to gain a powerful class, put the frightened populace on the right track, and take out threats before they become too big. There will be no more chances; win or lose, his 100th run shall be his last.

Making use of those memories, and his gaming knowledge, he joined the newest VRMMO, Magic Unbound, ready to enjoy his time in a game that was simply a pipedream in his original world.

Join us, as we read about Sam’s journey through the game and life as he transforms from a lone gamer into one surrounded by friends. Read as he deals with annoying villains, scheming edgelord gamers, and secretive assassins!

I will endeavor to stay true to the MMO genre while taking a few liberties to make it more interesting. However, this is closer to Slice of Life than anything. There will be drama, action, horror, humor, and everything in between, but I would call this entire thing a guilty pleasure reading (and writing).

I got bored with all those VRMMO novels that start out as VRMMO novels, then escalate into martial cage fights, alien invasions, dream dimensions, or whatever. I also don’t like how in several novels they take real-life skills into the game and the game is like: ‘Aight, you do you, bro!’.

This novel will keep the real world and the game world separate. Also, to me, it seems that many VRMMO writers have never played any MMO or other video games, or heard about things like patches, pacing, and vertical or horizontal gameplay.

The schedule is Tuesday/Friday!

What to expect: This is a slow burn. And it's hopefully going to be a very, very long story. I wanted a character driven fantasy, with action, comedy, and a lot of heart in it. Everything has been carefully considered to create a coherent world with a magic system that makes sense.

Our protagonist is not OP (yet) but is not a pushover either, just a former researcher mage forced to become something else entirely to prevent his world's end and discovering that things were not entirely the way he thought. This is his journey, told step by step, with all the struggles and triumphs that entails.

Humanity has been largely united under a single government for two centuries, scarcity has been all but eliminated, and the human lifespan has been extended further than ever before, with many living for five centuries or longer. Several of the participants, however, have ulterior motives for attending, including Utsushikome of Fusai, a young prodigy of Thanatomancy whose grandfather was once a member.

But unbeknownst to them, there is a curse on the Order of the Universal Panacea. One does not defy death and the natural order lightly. And an uninvited guest may already lurk among them; one that is not human.

In the end, all of them will have to ask: What can be found in this world, that is truly eternal?

The curtain rises on this, mankind's final battle with entropy, and the possible outcomes are death, or a slightly later, more complicated form of death. Even so, please try to enjoy yourself.

This story is a whodunnit-style murder mystery with a focus on psychological drama and personal horror. The setup is long, but hopefully will reward attentive reading.

Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things.

And people have branded me a myth.

But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone.

My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen.
