Tala had to fight tooth and nail in the Magic Academy to forge a path to power that was her own. She knows it’s her duty to use that power to serve humanity, defending them against the creatures of the untamable wilds. However, she skipped a few steps in her education, like apprenticing to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

Now, Tala has to balance learning as fast as she can with paying off the veritable mountain of debt the Magic Academy dropped on her shoulders for the opportunity; not to mention staying alive.

Even though she should only be a Mageling, the world considers her a Mage. Bless the stars she directed most of her magic toward survival.

This fiction contains violence and tense situations. It will reference adult topics but will not contain sex scenes nor overt delves into ‘sex/sexuality in other worlds.’

So please come join Arai, Sana, Juni, Ling, Shu and the rest of my cast as they journey through strange lands, meet all kinds of unusual beings and unravel some of the power and glory of a land time tried very hard to forget.

Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly dark places occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!
I have updated the tags to account for recent changes to the RR definitions. 'Disturbing Content' now has a much broader definition, so i have added the tag, but significant instances within the story are noted in chapter-blurbs. Also, Portal Fantasy Hyoooo~!

About the Author

I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today.

Well, the people of Earth are going to find out, and it's not going to be pretty.

The moment the barrier that kept supernatural powers out collapsed, the only thing keeping the little pieces of floating rocks and the tiny people living on them intact, was the System’s intervention.

Mia, being one of those tiny people on the little floating rocks in the middle of the void, had much bigger problems though. Like goblins trying to get a nibble out of her guts.

It’s not all bad though, she might have monsters trying to eat her, have disturbingly pointy ears and an obnoxiously pink mane of hair, but she seemed to have some talent for magic.
Everything is going to be just fine. Right?

Expect:
- Female, Gay MC
- An MC that doesn't miraculously take to fighting goblins to the death like a seasoned murderhobo.
- Arcane Magic! UNLIMITED POWAH!(not really)
- A mostly benevolent System.
- I'm still figuring out the rest, so that's about it for now.
- MC starts out as a bit of a doormat. She slowly starts getting better at around ch 12 though. It's called character development, even if my MC is dragging her leg a bit too much at the start.

Transported into a world where just about anybody can receive the prestigious title of Mage, Morgana is equally baffled and outraged. She spent the better part of twenty-two years holed up in alcoves, poring over spell formulae and memorizing the forty-three Primary Astolian Paradigms, all for the opportunity to study at the Ivory Institute and gain access to those primordial, inscrutable powers. And here, they're dropped into people's laps? Ridiculous.

Morgana doesn't know how she's arrived here, why everyone is so bone-headedly ignorant to the fundamentals of magic, and especially what this strange 'System' is, coddling even 'archmages' with the simplest of spell constructions, but she's going to find out.

In the meantime, there's plenty of fascinating things to study. Dungeons, artifacts, classes, skills, and spells—all obviously created by some Grand Architect using a language that, apparently, only Morgana is familiar with. Beyond gaining insights into the arcane, which she's devoted her life to decoding, there might be something incredible to glean inside all these expertly hidden mechanisms.

Something bigger than she could imagine.
