Taming the System: The Rift in My Backyard (System LitRPG)
Sometimes you’ve got to play the cards you’re dealt. Even if you don’t know the rules, don’t trust the dealer, and aren’t completely sure you’re playing with a full deck.
Everyone remembers where they were when the System arrived.
Me? I was gardening. Head down, music on, in the zone. So I didn’t notice the giant fear-projecting squirrels until they went for my dog.
That’s when things got weird.
Now I’m stuck in a System-generated Challenge Scenario, with a leveling screen I don’t understand, a shovel for a weapon, and a dog who deserves a much better apocalypse than this one.
I’m not trying to be a hero. I’m just trying to survive. But if the System thinks it can separate me from my dogs, it’s gonna have to think again.
What to expect:
– System Apocalypse / LitRPG
– First-person, emotionally grounded narration
– A reluctant heroine who thinks before she swings
– Dogs. Soulbonded, loyal, plot-relevant dogs.
– Strategic thinking, sarcastic humor, soft resilience
– No romance. No dog death. Maybe cats.
I write and publish books on Amazon as S. J. Wynde and Sarah Wynde. Back in October of 2024, I was waiting for a hurricane when I downloaded some system litrpg. For the next six months, I read obsessively. And then I got annoyed that none of the characters ever cared about their dogs, and started writing obsessively. Honestly, this is all about the dogs. If you don’t like dogs, it’s not for you. If you do like dogs, welcome. Because those of us with pets know, in the System apocalypse, we’ve got something to fight for. And it’s not humanity.
